In a world marked by inequality, conflict, and displacement, standing up for justice is no longer optional – it is essential.
The Krishna Rao Foundation believes that every human being, regardless of geography or circumstance, deserves dignity, safety, and the right to be heard. That’s why we support organisations that challenge systemic injustice, demand accountability, and advocate for the world’s most vulnerable — from children and women to marginalised communities silenced by fear or discrimination.
Our grants have helped fund landmark reports, global advocacy campaigns, and grassroots legal support, turning compassion into lasting change.
Standing up for human rights on a global scale
Our support since 2012 helped Amnesty move its operations from London to 14 strategic regional offices, empowering local movements, digital activism and rapid response campaigns in crisis zones.
Breaking the silence on child sexual abuse in India
We funded the publication of a major report exposing failures in prevention, response, and victim care – putting child protection firmly on the national agenda.
Research and action on child trafficking
HAQ’s national-level study, supported by our grant, was released at a landmark Public Hearing in 2016. We also provided emergency support for 20 children rescued from trafficking.
Fighting the devdasi system and caste-based sexual slavery
Our grant enabled a consultation of Dalit leaders from 13 Indian states to build a pressure group aimed at abolishing the exploitative devdasi practice once and for all.
The Krishna and Sandra Rao Foundation has invested £2.3 million in combating child trafficking in India.
We support transformative, grassroots initiatives across India that protect, heal and empower survivors of trafficking. Each project is chosen for its impact, integrity, and lasting outcomes.
